HVAC and Air Handling:

The BSL-3 laboratory is equipped with a dedicated HVAC system featuring HEPA filtration for both supply and exhaust air (99.99% efficiency at 0.3 μm particles), ensuring a sterile environment. This system includes precise airflow control to maintain directional flow and velocity, redundant exhaust fans with automatic switchover for continuous operation, and an alarm system that monitors pressure deviations, filter failures, and other critical parameters. Additionally, the sealed and airtight ductwork is fitted with backdraft dampers to prevent any contaminants from escaping.

Safety Features

The BSL-3 laboratory is further equipped with an access control system, intruder alarm system, emergency power backup and lighting, fire suppression system, and designated storage for spill kits and personal protective equipment.

Intelligent BMS Systems

The BSL-3 laboratory incorporates intelligent building management systems (BMS) with comprehensive monitoring capabilities, including real-time data on room temperature, humidity, differential pressure, airflow velocity, filter status, equipment status, and security system status. This system provides automated control of the HVAC system, lighting, and other critical building functions, ensuring optimal and safe operating conditions.

 For comprehensive oversight and analysis, the BMS continuously logs data and provides remote alarm notifications via SMS, email, or other communication methods for any critical parameter deviations.  Authorized personnel can also securely access the system remotely for monitoring and control purposes, and the BMS seamlessly integrates with the building's security and access control systems for added safety and control
